Life, Loss and then what?
-
When someone has been grieving, have you ever felt helpless or not known what to say or how to respond to them?
-
And how do you know whether what you do say, or do, will be helpful or harmful for them?
You are invited to spend two days looking at grief and grieving
with
Piers Heaney
Internationally Accredited Grief Specialist & Death Educator
Author of “Coming to Grief” & “ Children’s Grief”
The focus of the workshop is twofold:
-
To take an in-depth look at the what, why, when, where and how of grief, and how that can be managed,
And
-
To increase awareness, skills and confidence in order to make effective interventions and facilitate the process of grieving.
Have you ever wondered .....
Why some people get over their grief relatively quickly while others still need to tell their experience years down the track?
or
Why people seem to grieve differently, even when they are affected by the same experience?
or
Why people grieve when there is no obvious crisis in their lives?
Content will cover.....
-
A map that will help you to facilitate grief and grieving, both for yourself and for others
-
Responding to strong emotions (anger, guilt, denial, ambivalence, etc)
-
Individual styles of grieving
-
What determines how we grieve, including a look at the influence of family systems
-
How to assess progress
-
Why some responses are helpful, while others need to be avoided
-
And so much more
