DUNEDIN, August 2019
We know that listening to someone is the greatest gift we can give them. So listening well is a very valuable skill. This workshop series focuses on listening well and aims to answer questions like:
-
When I listen how do I know what I’m hearing?
-
What tools are available to help me “decode” the message?
-
When should I keep my self out of the conversation and when (and how) can I use my self?
-
How do I use the information I’ve received?
We’ll introduce you to models and concepts which can guide you when you listen and we‘ll provide opportunities to practice and experiment.
With: Piers Heaney and Ruth Chapman
Ruth Chapman is a communication practitioner, mediator and facilitator with a special interest in conflict resolution.
Focus:
Listening / Communication models/Skills that offer ways to
-
listen and hear what is being communicated
-
organize what you have heard
-
make effective responses and interventions
