My working life began in the Military, and from there I have gained experience and developed a portfolio of skills that have been honed in staff development, organisational consultancy, the tertiary education sector, the transport industry and in the psycho-therapeutic domain.  I was also self employed for a considerable period of time, working in the roles outlined below. This experience has been consolidated with a range of formal study and qualifications.   See More.

I live in Dunedin, NZ

I am passionate about, and have been working with, the issues of death, loss, grief and bereavement for over three decades.   My interest in this area began when I was working as a Funeral Director.    I am now a recognised author in the field, and hold formal accreditation with both The National Association for Loss and Grief (Australia) and with The Association of Death Educators and Counsellors (ADEC), (U.S.A.)

My efforts in the field of grief are directed towards

  • Increasing conceptual sensitivity among health care professionals,

  • Raising corporate and public awareness through education and clarification of prevailing norms and values, and

  • Assisting individuals at times of crisis and through transition to re-establishment.

Work has taken me throughout New Zealand, designing and delivering workshops and educational programmes for a wide-ranging and critical audience that has included professionals, volunteers, organisations (in both the public and private sectors) and Community support groups.   I have also been a regular lecturer on the topic, within a range of disciplines in numerous tertiary institutions (e.g. nursing, counselling, education and business programmes and medical school.)

I can bring a workshop to you or tailor a session

to meet the needs of your group

I currently offer a range of workshops that vary in duration from one hour to two days, and I take time to discuss what would best meet the needs of each particular group.  Workshops are delivered  in a way that is inter-active, fun and which offers learning opportunities in both large and small group exercises and through individual reflective time.  Size of groups vary and I can work dynamically with large numbers.   I also present more formal seminars and have been a key-note presenter on a regular basis.

Fees are negotiable.   Travel, accommodation and meals are additional.
